On January 22-28, a number of special events dedicated to the 250-th anniversary of Moscow State University took place in Moscow. The representatives of Russian and foreign universities were invited to take part in the celebration. The students of ASU, Maria Ivanova (Foreign Languages Department) and Maxim Shapovalov (Nature Studies Department) also received the invitations as awards for their outstanding academic results and social activities.
The program of the celebration included meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and with Mr. Sadovnichy, President of Moscow State University; parades and demonstrations; visits to Moscow museums, the Bolshoi Theatre, and the Kremlin. The most memorable day was the Student's Day. It began with the Torch-of-Knowledge Race, in which 5000 people including the students of ASU took part, and was followed by the opening of the Fundamental Library of Moscow State University and the MSU President Party. The day ended with beautiful fireworks.
