10.06.05: May 23rd will remain in the history of ASU as the official date of birth of the university student government. The constituent conference dedicated to the organization of ASU Student Union took place on May 23, 2005.

27.05.05: On May 19, 2005, the Department of Foreign Languages hosted International Linguistic Conference "Language and Discourse in the Modern World". The organization committee received over one hundred submissions from all over Russia and abroad. All papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings and sent to their authors in the fall.

25.05.05: On May, 22, 2005, the representatives of ASU Student Government arrived at Lysaya Polyana - the favorite getaway place of Maikop townspeople - to spend several hours collecting the litter left by negligent holiday-makers.

24.05.05: On May 9-14, 2005, the Department of Foreign Languages welcomed Bruce Williams from William Patterson University in New Jersey, U.S.A. Mr. Williams gave several lectures to the students of the department on Sociolinguistics, Bilingualism and Foreign Language Acquisition. He also had a chance to attend the final state qualification exam in English. The American professor spoke warmly about the faculty and students of our department, and rated their proficiency in English very high.

12.05.05: On April 7-11, 2005 the IV (Final) lap of the Russian Cup in All-Round Tourism-on-Artificial-Relief Competition took place at the sports centre of Moscow State Construction University. The previous three laps took place in the cities of Elets (Lipetsk Region), Vologda, and Volgodonsk (Rostov Region). The total number of participating teams was 73; over 30 Masters of Sports and 127 Candidate Masters of Sports took part in the competition.

: On May 4, 2005, the Military Department of ASU presented a special military and sports show dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

04.05.05: On April 8-11, 2005, "Perspective" - the Annual All-Russia Conference of Undergraduate and Graduate Students and Young Researchers - took place at the research base of Kabardino-Balkarian State University in the settlement of Elbrus. This year over 600 research papers were presented there. Each year the representatives of the Republic of Adygheya take part in the conference. This year 53 research papers were presented by the students of Adygheya, including 40 papers from Adyghe State University.

19.04.05: 45th Student Conference dedicated to the 65th anniversary of ASU foundation will take place on April 20-21, 2005

12.04.05: Nart Kubov, a post-graduate student of History Department, won the competition to participate in the seminar for young people of the Caucasus in Istanbul on February 25 - March 2. The seminar was held within the Consortium Initiative, financed by British Department for International Development. International Alert, the leading agency working with civil society, promoted the project and organized the seminar.

07.04.05: VII Annual Student Festival "Student Spring 2005" dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945)

21.03.05: On March 17, the English Speaking Club of the Foreign Languages Department celebrated St.Patrick's Day. Some of the students were wearing green as required by the custom of Patty's Day; others decorated themselves with hand-made shamrock emblems. The meeting started with viewing a video clip of Riverdance, the famous Irish dance group. The video inspired some of the students to practice a couple of simple movements. The quiz that followed contained questions on the history of St. Patrick's Day both in Ireland and in the USA. The winners received candies as a reward.

12.03.05: On March 4, 2005, an hour-long variety show dedicated to the International Women's Day took place in the Grand Assembly Hall of Adyghe State University.

18.02.05: Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and Russian University of Friendship Among Nations (RUDN) invite undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students to take part in the 4th International Conference "CIS Countries and Globalization" on March30 - April 1, 2005. The conference will take place at the Economics Department of RUDN, Moscow.

: Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and Tambov State University named after G. Derzhavin announce the 3rd International Conference "Fundamental and Applied Research I Education" on March 1, 2005.

17.02.05: February 14th - St. Valentine's Day - is the favorite holiday of all students. The Department of Foreign Languages is not an exception. Since morning the delivery of "romantic mail" was organized. Everyone could send a valentine to their sweetheart.

11.02.05: On January 22-28, a number of special events dedicated to the 250-th anniversary of Moscow State University took place in Moscow. The representatives of Russian and foreign universities were invited to take part in the celebration. The students of ASU, Maria Ivanova (Foreign Languages Department) and Maxim Shapovalov (Nature Studies Department) also received the invitations as awards for their outstanding academic results and social activities.
