10th Anniversary of Sirius' Mathematical Educational Program
The traditional November intensive course will host 204 schoolchildren in grades 7-11 from 17 regions of Russia, including the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, as well as participants from Abkhazia and Uzbekistan. Among them are 16 children from Adygea. This program is organized with the methodological and personnel support of the Caucasian Mathematical Center at Adyghe State University and the Republican Natural Sciences and Mathematics School.
The educational program aims to develop the mathematical and creative abilities of schoolchildren, with a primary focus on Olympiad mathematics. The head of the program is Daud Mamiy, the rector of ASU. He delivered a lecture for the students titled "The Charm of Topology."
In addition to mathematics classes, the participants will engage in a popular science course on physics, presented by Professor Aik Sargsyan, the director of the Engineering Physics Institute at the Russian-Armenian University. They will also explore a course on machine learning and attend lectures on one of the key areas of artificial intelligence and computational linguistics: the application of natural language processing (NLP) in data analytics.
In addition to mathematics classes, participants in this shift will attend a popular science course on physics, which will be delivered by Professor Aik Sargsyan, the director of the Engineering Physics Institute at the Russian-Armenian University. Furthermore, the program features popular science lectures and meetings with leading scientists and science communicators, including Andrey Raigorodsky, Alexey Savvateev, Nikolay Andreev, Nazar Agakhanov, Dmitry Vibe, Alexey Paevsky, Elena Bryzgalina, and Sergey Dorichenko.
On November 11, the "Big Meeting of Popularizers in Sirius" will occur, featuring experts and invited guests. This event will take place as part of the Adyghe State University project "Science Around," conducted live in the VKontakte in the project community.
The "Science Around" project at Adyghe State University is implemented with the support of a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, as part of the federal initiative "Popularization of Science and Technology."
