The Dean of the Faculty of Adyghe Philology and Culture of ASU spoke at a meeting of the Council on the Adyghe Language under the Head of the Republic of Adygea
The Dean of the Faculty of Adyghe Philology and Culture of the Institute of Humanitarian Knowledge and Culture of the Adyghe State University, Dzhul'eta Akhmetova, presented a report on the results of career guidance work among schoolchildren of the Republic of Adygea to those gathered.
The agenda of the meeting, which was chaired by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Adyghe Anzaur Kerashev on behalf of the Head of the Republic of Adyghe Murat Kumpilov, was devoted to issues of preserving and popularizing the Adyghe language, teaching native speech from preschool age, and training teaching staff.
As noted, the Adyghe language is currently taught in 51 kindergartens in the republic. Thanks to the pilot project, educational work is also conducted in the Adyghe language in 36 of them. Almost 60% of the total number of students in the republic study the Adyghe language and literature in schools. Intensive study of the Adyghe language is underway in four pilot schools in Maikop.
The educational process actively uses textbooks on the Adyghe language from grades 1 to 11 and on Adyghe literature from grades 5 to 11, developed with the participation of teachers of the Adyghe State University; all of them are included in the federal list. In addition, textbooks and teaching aids on literature in the native (Adyghe) language for grades 1 to 4, and textbooks on the "History of the Native Land. The Republic of Adygea" for grades 5 to 7 have already been developed.
To popularize the Adyghe language and increase motivation for studying it, the region regularly holds thematic competitions, olympiads, lectures, creative meetings with writers, poets and scientists. At the same time, the support system for teachers teaching the Adyghe language and literature is being improved. Thus, since 2022, the All-Russian competition "Best Teacher of Native Language and Native Literature" has been held.
The dean of the faculty, Dzhuleta Akhmetova, reported on the results of career guidance work among schoolchildren in the region, conducted by the faculty of Adyghe philology and culture of ASU. She said that the faculty conducts cultural, educational and career guidance work with schoolchildren, within the framework of which the university hosts the international educational campaign "Adyghe dictation", the ethno-linguistic school "Adygland" and the Workshops for the reconstruction of the historical and cultural landscape of Adygea, which are aimed at popularizing the native Adyghe language, increasing its prestige in the modern world and deepening knowledge of traditional Adyghe culture.
In her report, she emphasized that the most important task of the faculty is to ensure the human resources potential of the regional education system and the cultural heritage of our people, and to train personnel for national journalism. The faculty provides training in the following specialties: Applied Philology ("native language and literature", "journalism"), Pedagogical Education ("native language and literature", "Russian language") and Literary Creativity ("literary worker", "translator of fiction"). In the new academic year, 10 budget places have been allocated for the training program "Philology. Applied Philology: Adyghe Language and Literature, Journalism". The four-year training program is aimed at training bachelors in philology in the field of the Adyghe language and literature, journalists to work in the media in the Adyghe language. Future journalists will be trained at the Department of Adyghe Philology together with the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Adygea" and the republican newspaper "Adyghe Mak".
In order to raise awareness among senior school graduates about professions related to the study of their native language and culture, as well as to form motivation for studying at the Faculty of Adyghe Philology and Culture of ASU, at the beginning of the year, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Adygea, career guidance trips were organized to all municipalities of the republic. Particular attention was paid to activating the interest of schoolchildren in their native language and culture by demonstrating real opportunities for career growth in the field of pedagogy, science, art and mass communication.
Conducting such events helps to identify the interests and inclinations of students, expand their understanding of opportunities for professional growth and ensure the future replenishment of the contingent of talented and motivated students.
- Even if there is no immediate return, the long-term consequences can be very positive, contributing to the upbringing of highly educated and conscious youth, ready to devote themselves to the development of national culture and language. Therefore, it is important to continue this work, to look for new effective ways and tools to achieve the set goals, regularly assessing the achieved results and adjusting the strategy for maximum benefit and success, - noted Dzhulieta Akhmetova in her speech.
Summing up the meeting, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Adygea recalled that the Head of Adygea sets the task of consolidating the efforts of all interested structures, public figures, the teaching and parental community, and concerned citizens in the matter of popularizing and developing the Adyghe language and culture.
