ASU's Inaugural Data Analysis Hackathon Winners Awarded Prizes and Internships
Winners of the inaugural data analysis hackathon at the Institute of Exact Sciences and Digital Technologies of ASU received prizes and certificates for internships at IT companies and laboratories. The results of this first hackathon focused on data analysis were announced at ASU the day before. We would like to remind you that 13 teams, consisting of first- and second-year students from the Institute of Exact Sciences and Digital Technologies at ASU, as well as students from the Moscow State Technical University specializing in IT fields, tackled an analytical problem related to renewable energy. Using an extensive database, the participants were tasked with formulating a hypothesis regarding why customers choose electric cars and identifying the criteria they prioritize in their decision-making process.
Based on the results of the project defense, the experts identified the three strongest teams. The third place was secured by the women's team "Okay," composed of (Ksenia Goncharuk, Sofia Karatunova, Ekaterina Bogdanova, and Daria Titova.) The participants were awarded merchandise from ASU, as well as the opportunity for an extraordinary internship at the partner company, IBS Dunice.
The experts recognized the team "ZoV," consisting of (Konstantin Yurkaev, Konstantin Ignatov, Vladislav Vashchinsky, Sergey Berezhnoy, and Maksim Kirnosenko), with the second place. They received gifts from both the university and the partner company, Alfa Bank.
The team "Sh arp I first," consisting of Yakov Torotko, Nikita Safronov, Sergey Parada, Vyacheslav Gritskov, and Andrey Fedoseyev, secured first place by a considerable margin. They were presented with prizes from ASU and the partner company, Sovcombank Technologies.
Additionally, four participants were awarded certificates for a three-month internship in university laboratories that focus on similar tasks. Sergey Parada and Yakov Torotko received certificates for internships in the Digital Solutions Laboratory, which is part of the Digital Transformation Center. Certificates for internships at the ASU Analytical Center were awarded to Vyacheslav Gritskov and Denis Rtishchev.
-The individuals can utilize it for a year. If they demonstrate their capabilities effectively, they may secure employment in the laboratory, providing them with essential work experience that employers frequently seek when advertising vacancies,- said Victoria Buchatskaya, Director of the Department of Strategic Development and Implementation of Priority Programs at ASU.
She emphasized that the hackathon was an important event for the cluster because events of this type for students have not yet been held. It allows each participant, regardless of the experts' decisions, to gain valuable knowledge and connections essential for further professional and personal growth. As Pavel Buchatsky, Chairman of the Expert Commission, clarified at the closing, the inaugural student hackathon in data analysis can be considered a success, and the organizers plan to hold similar events in the future.
