During the anniversary season of the DANO National Data Analysis Olympiad, a two-day data analysis hackathon was held at Adygea State University. Approximately 60 students in grades 8-11 from Adygea and other regions of the country participated. Representatives from HSE, T-Bank, and ASU served as experts.

This is the fourth time that ASU is co-organizing and hosting the event. The hackathon was held at the university as part of the Priority 2030 program and a cooperation agreement with HSE University.

Hackathon participants worked on developing research based on big data. This time, teams had access to a real database prepared by staff from the ASU Renewable Energy Youth Lab, feedback from analytics experts, and mentor support. All tasks were based on real cases—challenges that analysts face in their work.

Over the course of two days, the students learned how data analysis works in practice: they assembled a team, explored a dataset, and presented their own solution. As a result of their work, three teams that won prizes advanced to the second (qualifying) round of the DANO National Data Analysis Olympiad.

As a reminder, the DANO National Data Analysis Olympiad is a competition where schoolchildren learn not just to solve problems, but also to view the world through data, formulate hypotheses, and test them in practice. The Olympiad is held by HSE University and T-Bank in collaboration with co-organizing universities: ITMO University, Perm State National Research University, Ural Federal University, New Economic School, and Arkhangelsk State University.

The goal of the Olympiad is to identify and develop analytical thinking and data analysis skills in high school students, and to foster a conscious motivation for choosing a future profession. The Olympiad is organized by the Higher School of Economics and T-Bank. Hackathons of the DANO National Data Analysis Olympiad have been held since 2022.

The Olympiad consists of three stages that will help participants hone their logic and data-processing skills, draw well-founded conclusions, and present arguments. They will also gain experience working with teams on real projects and develop soft skills. Winners and runners-up receive additional points for admission to HSE and co-organizing universities, as well as preferences for internships at T-Bank.
