Initially one of the Adyghe State University departments, the Faculty of Physical Culture, educated teachers with degrees in physical education and sport. It was founded in 1971, and later emerged as an Institute of Physical Education and Judo in 1995.
PE and Judo Institute today:
- a modern educational establishment based on the principles of creativity and scientific innovation;
- all levels of professional education: BA, MA, and First Doctoral degrees and thesis completion course in PE and Safety Living Studies;
- highly qualified teaching staff with the required educational and scientific degrees and credentials;
- several hundred creative, talented students from all over the world.
Research and education Biomechanics facility
Our Research and education Biomechanics facility was established and based at the Department of Physical Culture in May 1989. The initiative belonged jointly to Yakub K. Koblev, a world-renowned judo trainer, Doctor for Pedagogical Sciences and then a senior official at the University Yuri T. Cherkesov.
The Biomechanics facility employs the best research methods available in order to engineer efficient treadmills and exercise machines as well as provide an extensive exercise routine list suited to various body conditions health wise.
Among methods implied for research and control, there are:
- kinematometry;
- dynamometry;
- extensometry;
- electromyography;
- body tremor and rhythm measurements;
Compiled video archives are used as:
- a practical outlet for academic research papers and practice sessions;
- as supplementary materials for biomechanics, physiology, sports medicine, pedagogics and psychology, as well as other related studies;
- a means to facilitate and promote sports and physical education.
